Heart vs Mind

March 22, 2006 By ShriKant Vashishtha 1 Comment

In indian society, most of the times, we are worried what others think about us. What he/she will say if I do something. Or what will be the reaction of family/friends etc. In this process we tend to forget what we really want from ourselves. But in my view this is a very important point. You want to do something which might make other person happy. If you are clear in your conscience with whatever you are doing, other people really dont come in the picture. Do whatever good your heart says to do.

Most of times we dont listen to our soft feelings which our heart asks us to do. Mind overpowers our feelings, dont you think. You will think that I can help this/that guy but your mind will start thinking that …hey this guy didnt help me that time or…what will I get in return if I help him…Your heart says that you should help him but mind plays game. In process those soft feelings are lost somewhere.

We and Information

October 13, 2005 By ShriKant Vashishtha 2 Comments

Did you ever notice the information bombardment or overflow? Most of us will start thinking if that’s a case with them ever. Umm…We are trapped, but we dont know. It’s about information flow which in many cases creates a bad impact on today’s youth. Have you ever tried to think if you need the amount of information we receive these days.

I am talking about the information we receive from TV, Cinema, Newspapers etc. To get informed is always good. World is huge. Even if we try the way we could, we won’t even be aware about a small drop in sea in our whole lifetime. That’s the amount of information we have in this universe. At the same time, do we need to know all information we are presented with? Here I am talking about the violance, illicit scenes. Some TV serials whose existence itself is based on extra-marital affairs or the querrels between relatives. So much negative waves associated, don’t you think? Do we ever need it? In my view, viewer is like a small child who doesn’t know what to see and what not. He will see whatever is presented to him. Many of the related things don’t depend upon his discretion. People are addicted to it. They see because that has become the part of their life. Whether they like it or not doesnt matter much. However whatever they see does impact their mentality which they even dont know.

They become violent. It’s not the violence in explicit terms but the violence in thoughts. One is jealous with another, or one doesn’t hesitate to use another for money/sex. Illicit sexual advancements are becoming acceptable somehow. Why is that? In the end, the question comes up whether we really need the kind of information we are offered to. Why can’t we simply stop and start living in hibernation for quite some time. From my personal experience I can tell you that this is really worth to experiment. For that quite sometime you feel like living in a different world. Also you are able to devote more time to the things which you might be missing in your life.

System vs Person

May 15, 2005 By ShriKant Vashishtha Leave a Comment

System is very flexible and creates the space for everyone. Life does not appear to be a straight line. Most of the times it happens only in movies that a bad guy is always punished. In real life, bad guys prosper. Ironically system leaves space for them. ‘Good’ guys take reverse turn to give more space for the powerful. Every person plays a character in this play. In the indian society, social bonds are enormous. Because of that, sometimes, persons who don’t perform, become the responsibilty of their near and dears. This social umbrella looks good at its very first sight. In some means it also is. It gives social security to a commoner. However every good thing has its black spots too.

And in this case, a person who does not perform…. The helplessness in a male dominated society becomes a curse for women. Good things dont prosper always. And in this case many good souls die without saying anything.

Priyanka

May 15, 2005 By ShriKant Vashishtha Leave a Comment

The question is, whether somebody needs to be extraordinary in some of the defined disciplines. The personality cannot be defined in some well defined curricatures. A small town girl could create such an impact on distant guests that after going from here they just remembered one name, that is Priyanka. That friend even started to think for naming his new composition (the emotions for which were derived from the visit) as Priyanka. Hmm…I started to take notice. What is it all about. A very ordinary conventional girl could create such an impact. And it was all without any predefined notions about a great personality. The human warmth, the sensitivity, the hospitality and the zeal to convey those raw emotions without any hesitation and that too after knowing that they wont be able to understand her language was simply mindblowing for sometime. So, looking into that profile one would just start thinking that the girl has a great future…But..does she really have it???

A Letter

May 8, 2005 By ShriKant Vashishtha 1 Comment

Came to know your circumstances.
I am sure, it must be an unfortunate news for you.
All I can only say right now is, something was missing because of which it could not materialise.
Actually I am not from a school of thought which says it happened because of sheer bad luck.

Everything is in our hands.
So, just be patient.
And I don’t think that this is an end of the story.
Life goes on. Just have faith on yourself.
I believe that ‘Whatever happens, happens only for good”.
Every disaster can just show you numerous paths (options) which are unexplored.
Right now, you are just thinking in terms of MBA.
But do you think, being an MBA (or not) is the end of world.
World is full of oppurunities, many – 2 unexplored ones.
And, if you just believe in yourself, you can lead to an unexplored path which can give you much better satisfaction than MBA>>>>>

Why Krishna says ‘Just do your Karma as the fruit is not in your hand”.
Because Trishna (desire) gives sheer pain, nothing else.
Why don’t you think, that whatever I did was in my capacity. If it did not materialise, so be it…There are many other options.

Aur bhagya ke oopar agar lagataar kudaal chalate rahoge, to aakhir kab tak ichchit fal nahin milega.
So, what I would like to say is to be prepared with another task.

Just concentrate on yourself. Things that you can do in better way.

Also on your strengths and your limitations.
This part is very – very important.
Try to see if the task is too difficult (where probability of being successful is very less). If it is, you’ll have to remember that there might be a chance of failure too.
You can try your best. But the probable might not always be a success. So be prepare for that.
And then its later course of action. What if it is not successful.

But to be on the safer side, my advice is always to recognize your strong points, weaker points and limitations too.
Don’t do anything which is outside your capabilities.
Everybody is not perfact. Some people excell in something and others in something else.
So, a Dhiru Bhai Ambani was a Matric fail, but was a genius in business and business relationships.
Amitabh Bachchan was a total failure upto an age of 29-31 and became a genius only in later days.

So, your age is not end of the road.
Just try to see your options.
Think about them and venture on them
Just have a faith on yourself.
